Rider Hospitalized after Oakland Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 80 near SFOBB Toll Plaza
Oakland, California (July 10, 2022) – A motorcyclist collided with a car Sunday afternoon in Oakland, sustaining serious injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision occurred at about 3:18 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 80, just west of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Toll Plaza.
A blue 2018 Yamaha YFZ-R3 collided with a White Mini Cooper under unclear circumstances.
The motorcyclist went down after the impact, blocking the middle traffic lanes.
Firefighters responded to the scene and closed the Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4 lanes.
The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries in the crash, according to the firefighters.
All traffic lanes were reopened at 4 p.m.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
