, California (July 18, 2022) – 19-year-old Luis Fernando Thomas was arrested after he crashed his pickup into a house in Fallbrook, injuring two children inside the house and his passenger, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Emergency personnel responded to the 1300 block of Winter Haven Road after receiving reports of the crash at around 2:40 a.m.

The responders found a gray Toyota Tacoma that had veered off the road and slammed into a house.

According to officers, Thomas was driving the pickup eastbound on Winter Haven when the accident occurred.

Thomas, a Fallbrook resident, and his 20-year-old passenger sustained serious life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.

Two children, ages 5 and 9, who were inside the house during the crash, sustained minor injuries. Paramedics transported them to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment.

Authorities said they are investigating the cause of the collision but suspect alcohol and/or drugs played a role. Thomas was later arrested on felony charges, including felony DUI, as per the authorities.
