Joshua Kohl Arrested after Tuolumne County Car Accident on Highway 108
Tuolumne County, California (July 19, 2022) – Joshua Kohl, 49, of La Mesa, was arrested on several charges after a multi-vehicle collision that took place in Tuolumne County on Saturday morning, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
At around 8:00 a.m. on July 16, a Sonora Area CHP Officer received a report of a stolen vehicle spotted traveling westbound on Highway 108 in the Long Barn area.
The CHP officer soon saw the gray Ford F350 pickup truck and before the officer activated the emergency lights, the suspect driver accelerated and swerved across the double yellow lines to overtake another vehicle.
Kohl, who was the driver of the Ford, collided head-on with an oncoming 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Leroy Keller, 86, of Sonora. The Ford also crashed into a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic operated by Diana Barreno, 59, of Twain Harte, then struck an embankment.
The Ford stopped after colliding with a 2018 Subaru Outback driven by Charles Hester, 59, of San Mateo.

Keller and his passenger, Earlene Keller, 80, of Sonora, were both flown to Doctors Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center with major injuries.
Kohl, who was treated for minor injuries, was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, passing over a divided highway, and causing injuries.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
