Samantha Hartwell Arrested after Deadly Half Moon Bay Accident on Highway 1
Half Moon Bay, California (July 24, 2022) – Samantha Hartwell, 31, was arrested following a suspected DUI crash that left a bicyclist dead in Half Moon Bay last month, according to the authorities.
The incident took place on Highway 1, on June 25.
According to the report, Hartwell was driving on Highway 1 and reportedly swerving when she collided with an oncoming car and a bicyclist near Stage Road.
The bicyclist was ejected from his bike and ended up nearly 40 feet down an embankment along the highway.
Authorities said the bicycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Hartwell was arrested on charges of second-degree murder, DUI causing injury, and vehicular manslaughter.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
