Benjamin Mauldin Injured in Deadly Temecula Car Accident on Highway 79

Temecula, California (July 25, 2022) – Benjamin Mauldin, 46, of Thermal, was seriously injured in a fatal traffic crash that took place in Temecula on Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened on Highway 79 at Anza Road at around 6:25 p.m. on July 24.
According to the report, a 2011 Honda Pilot was traveling westbound on Highway 79 when it drifted off the right shoulder of the highway.
The Honda then overcorrected and swerved into the eastbound side, where it collided with an oncoming 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Mauldin.
Mauldin and one of his passengers, a 43-year-old woman, were hospitalized with major injuries. A girl aged 12 was a passenger in the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.
An 8-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Honda died in the crash.
Two other children in the Honda, aged 12 and 5, were taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
The woman driving the Honda was hospitalized with major injuries.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
