Avina Loreto Killed in Modesto Car Accident near Morgan Road and Whitmore Avenue

, California (July 27, 2022) – 80-year-old Avina Loreto of has been identified as the woman killed in a last Friday in Modesto, according to a local news source.

The accident happened around 10:15 p.m. July 22, near Morgan Road and Whitmore Avenue at the Modesto and Ceres border.

As per the report, a car was traveling south on Morgan Road and did not stop at a red light. The car then hit a Ford Explorer that was halted at the intersection. Due to the impact of the collision, the two cars crashed into two more vehicles. 

Loreto, Ford's back seat passenger, suffered injuries following the car accident. Three other Ford occupants, all adults, suffered minor to moderate injuries. The patients were taken to medical centers for treatment.

The male driver who caused the accident was treated for moderate injuries. He was later arrested for driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.

An investigation is underway.

Ceres, California (July 23, 2022) – A woman was killed in a crash involving a suspected DUI motorist in Ceres on Friday night, according to the Modesto police.

Four vehicles were involved in the accident at East Whitmore Avenue and Morgan Road just before 10:15 p.m. on July 22.

According to police, vehicles were stopped for a red light at the intersection when another driver failed to stop and crashed into the rear of one of them.

The two vehicles then collided with two others stopped at the intersection.

A woman in one of the vehicles was killed in the crash. Her identity was not immediately released.

Three other parties were injured in the collision. The patients were taken to local hospitals, two of them with critical injuries.

An 18-year-old baby in one of the vehicles was not injured.

The driver of the vehicle that triggered the pileup, identified as a 25-year-old man, was arrested on charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

An investigation into the deadly Ceres accident is ongoing.
