One Dies in Palm Springs Car Accident on Sunrise Way and East Palm Canyon Drive

Palm Springs, California (July 31, 2022) – One person was killed while two others were seriously hurt in a collision involving a suspected DUI motorist in Palm Springs on Saturday night, according to the authorities.
The chain-reaction accident happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. in the area of Sunrise Way and East Palm Canyon Drive.
According to authorities, a man suspected of drunk driving slammed into the rear of a vehicle stopped at the intersection.
This triggered a chain-reaction with other vehicles.
The driver of the vehicle that was first rear-ended by the suspect died at the scene, while a passenger in that vehicle and the suspect were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities said the suspect is believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run in the area of Ramon Road and Sunrise Way just before the deadly collision.
The suspect is expected to be arrested on suspicion of murder due to a previous DUI conviction.
The Palm Springs Police Department is investigating the incident.
