South , California (August 2, 2022) – Two people were killed when a vehicle crashed into a street encampment while fleeing from the police on Tuesday morning in South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

At about 11:30 a.m., authorities responded to reports of domestic violence in the 4800 block of Figueroa Street. The officers left after finding no evidence of domestic violence but were called back at about 12:40 p.m.

A suspect reportedly fled from the area in his vehicle. Shortly after, police found out that the driver had crashed into a man and woman in an encampment in the area of West 52nd Place and South Flower Street.

The two victims died in the crash.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

Further details on the incident were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
