Kevin Atteberry Among 2 Seriously Injured in Palm Springs Car Crash on East Palm Canyon Drive and Sunrise Way
Palm Springs, California (August 2, 2022) – Kevin Atteberry, 51, of Los Angeles, has been identified as one of the two parties who were injured in a suspected DUI accident that killed another person on Saturday night in Palm Springs, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 9:07 p.m., on July 30, at the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Sunrise Way.
According to the police, a vehicle operated by Atteberry was headed southbound on Sunrise Way when it crashed into the back of another car driven by Erik Verdian, 31, of Burbank. Verdian's Vehicle was stopped at the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive at the time.
The collision reportedly caused a chain crash with two other vehicles that were stopped at the intersection.
Sadly, Verdian was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was hospitalized with major injuries.
Atteberry, who was suspected of driving under the influence, was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Atteberry was suspected of causing a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Ramon Road and Sunrise Way just before the fatal crash.
Once released from the hospital, police said they intent to arrest Atteberry on suspicion of murder.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
