Lashonda Davis Killed in South LA Accident on West 52nd Place and South Flower Street
South Los Angeles, California (August 4, 2022) – One of the two homeless people killed in a crash on Tuesday morning in South LA has been identified as Lashonda Davis, 43, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
At around 11:30 a.m., authorities were called to the 4800 block of Figueroa Street for a domestic violence case. The officers left the area after finding no evidence of domestic violence.
The officers were later called back at about 12:40 p.m. but a suspect fled from the locality in a vehicle.
The suspect crashed into a man and woman in a homeless encampment in the area of West 52nd Place and South Flower Street a few minutes later.
Davis was among the two parties struck by the vehicle and died at the scene. The second victim was identified as Alberto Leal, 44.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.

South Los Angeles, California (August 2, 2022) – Two people were killed when a vehicle crashed into a street encampment while fleeing from the police on Tuesday morning in South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
At about 11:30 a.m., authorities responded to reports of domestic violence in the 4800 block of Figueroa Street. The officers left after finding no evidence of domestic violence but were called back at about 12:40 p.m.
A suspect reportedly fled from the area in his vehicle. Shortly after, police found out that the driver had crashed into a man and woman in an encampment in the area of West 52nd Place and South Flower Street.
The two victims died in the crash.
The suspect was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
