County, California (August 5, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a Thursday afternoon big rig accident that killed a 38-year-old man in .

The crash occurred at about noon on August 4, on the northbound side of near the Nees Avenue off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai operated by a 17-year-old driver from entered the intersection after stopping at a stop sign on the northbound off-ramp of I-5.

For an unknown reason, a big rig struck a 2002 Honda that was headed westbound on Nees Avenue. Following the collision, the Honda hit the Hyundai before it was broadsided by the big rig headed in the opposite direction.

As a result of the crash impact, the Honda reportedly drifted off the roadway and flipped down an embankment.

Sadly, the 38-year-old Mendota man, who was the driver of the Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
