, California (August 6, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a Thursday afternoon five-vehicle accident that left three people injured in Fairfield.

The accident occurred at about 3:15 p.m., on August 5, on westbound east of Air Base Parkway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Toyota Camry, 2012 Mercedes, 2010 Mercedes, and a 2006 Toyota Highlander, were driving in the number three lane when, for unknown reasons, they stopped.

A 2015 Freightliner, came upon the slowing traffic and was unable to stop in time. The driver of the big rig then swerved, struck a curb, broke an axle, and jack-knifed across the lanes.

At some point, the other vehicles reportedly became involved in the crash.

Three people sustained minor injuries in the accident.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
