Teen Cyclists Severely Hurt in Camarillo Bicycle Accident on Promenade Drive
Camarillo, California (August 8, 2022) – Two teenagers were injured in a bicycle accident on Friday afternoon in Camarillo, according to a local news source.
The accident occurred a while after 12:25 p.m. on August 5, on Promenade Drive, just south of Highway 101, near the Camarillo Premium Outlets.
Per the report, two teens were cycling their bicycles when they were struck by Chevrolet Bolt. The small electric hatchback trapped one of the teenagers underneath following the crash.
Responding firefighters and medical personnel extracted the pinned teen. The patient was found unconscious, and medics performed CPR on him before transporting him to the hospital with severe injuries. The other teen sustained minor injuries due to the crash. Officials identified the victims as 14-year-old teenagers from Camarillo.
The Chevrolet driver, a 68-year-old woman from Newbury Park, was not injured in the accident. She remained at the accident location and cooperated with officials.
The accident blocked an entrance to the Camarillo Premium Outlets mall in the 500 block of East Ventura Boulevard.
An investigation is ongoing.
