Woman Dies in Hospital after Carlsbad Accident on Basswood Avenue and Valley Street

Carlsbad, California (August 9, 2022) – A 35-year-old woman who was seriously injured after she was hit by an SUV while riding an electric bicycle in Carslad died of her injuries in a hospital on Monday, authorities said. Her name was being withheld.
The woman was riding with her 16-month-old daughter at the time of the crash, but the kid was not injured.

Carlsbad, California (August 8, 2022) – A woman riding a bicycle was struck and injured by a vehicle in Carlsbad on Sunday afternoon, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.
The collision happened on Basswood Avenue and Valley Street at about 5:45 p.m. on August 7.
A 35-year-old woman was riding an electric bike with her 16-month-old daughter when they were hit by a Toyota SUV near Carlsbad High School.
The woman reportedly suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Her baby was uninjured but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The operator of the SUV, a 42-year-old woman, was not hurt in the accident.
DUI is not suspected to have played a role in the crash.
The Carlsbad Police Department is investigating the collision.
