Teenage Boy Severely Injured in Newman Pedestrian Accident at Kern and S Streets

Newman, California (August 12, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a major pedestrian accident that left a teenage boy with severe injuries on Wednesday morning in Newman.
According to a local news source, the accident happened a while before 8:00 a.m. on August 10, at Kern and S Street near Orestimba High School.
Per the report, a 17-year-old boy was walking inside a crosswalk when he was hit by a Toyota sedan truck. Officials said the Toyota driver ran a stop sign and was driving at approximately 25 mph when the accident occurred.
Firefighters and medics arrived at the scene to attend to the victim. The boy sustained severe injuries and possible head trauma due to the crash. The boy was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for further medical aid.
The Toyota driver remained at the accident location and cooperated with officials.
The incident remains under investigation.
