Clifford Cornet Arrested after Deadly SR-1 DUI Accident near Ventura
Ventura, California (August 13, 2022) – Clifford Cornet, 61, of Oak View, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a crash that left a pedestrian dead near Ventura on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Mary Centeno, 68, of Ventura, died following the crash that occurred at around 9:23 a.m. on August 10, on SR-1.
According to the report, Centeno was walking southbound on the right shoulder of SR-1 when a 2003 GMC 3500 dually pickup truck driven by Cornet swerved onto the shoulder and struck her from behind.
Centeno was pronounced deceased at the site of the collision.
Cornet stayed at the scene and was arrested on DUI charges.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
