1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Carlsbad Crash Involving Motorcyclist Fleeing Police
Carlsbad, California (August 15, 2022) – A cyclist died, and two others were seriously injured when a bicycle collided with a motorcycle Monday afternoon in Carlsbad, as per a local news source.
The incident happened at about 1 p.m. on Carlsbad Boulevard near Palomar Airport Road.
Police said a 28-year-old man was riding a motorcycle with a 22-year-old woman as his passenger when a state parks officer attempted to pull him over for speeding and reckless driving.
The motorcyclist sped away but ended up crashing into a cyclist.
The male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcyclist and his passenger were hospitalized with severe injuries.
Authorities did not give the identities of the three.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
