, California (August 17, 2022) – A motorcyclist died after he crashed and was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon in Fallbrook, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident transpired at about 3:40 p.m. on East Mission Road at Via Zancas.

According to authorities, a 63-year-old man was riding his Honda CTX east on the roadway when he lost control around a right-hand curve. He went down in the opposing traffic lane, hit the pavement, and got ejected from his bike. A passing Mercedes-Benz C250 struck the motorcyclist.

The rider sustained severe injuries in the crash. Emergency personnel responded and performed CPR on the patient then transported him to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. The man was later pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

Authorities said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be contributing factors.

East Mission Road was closed for about an hour following the accident.
