Elderly Man Seriously Injured in Encanto Car Accident at Leghorn Avenue and Skyline Drive
Encanto, California (August 22, 2022) – An elderly man was seriously injured in a car accident at an intersection in Encanto on Saturday afternoon, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The incident happened on Leghorn Avenue and Skyline Drive at around 12:25 p.m. on August 20.
San Diego police said a black Toyota Yaris was traveling northbound in the 600 block of Leghorn Avenue when it struck a wall.
The Toyota continued on and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Leghorn Avenue and Skyline Drive, where it collided with another car traveling west on Skyline Drive.
After the collision, the Toyota kept going north, before traveling down an embankment and crashing into a cinderblock wall near the 200 block of Leghorn Avenue.
The driver of the Toyota, an 80-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, including a fractured femur, a dislocated left elbow, head lacerations, multiple internal injuries, and a fractured pelvis.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The San Diego police are investigating the collision .
