Prunedale, California (August 30, 2022) – According to a local news report, one person was killed and five others injured after a early Sunday morning in Prunedale.

The accident occurred at around 1:54 a.m. on August 28, on southbound Highway 101 near State Route 156.

Per the report, the driver of the 2002 Lexus, that was earlier disabled on the roadway, and his passengers were trying to push the car to the shoulder of the highway when a 1999 Dodge Ram hit them. The Dodge reportedly failed to slow down as it approached the stalled Lexus.

The impact of the crash sent the Lexus driver to the traffic lanes and was run over by an oncoming patrol car.

Fire officials and medics responded to the scene. The medics attempted to perform CPR on the Lexus driver, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The driver, only identified as a 22-year-old man from San Martin, was declared dead at the scene.

The Lexus passengers, the County Sheriff's Officer, and two Dodge passengers suffered injuries in the accident. They were transported to the hospital for treatment.
