, California (September 8, 2022) – The construction worker who died in a traffic collision on Interstate 5 in Sacramento on Wednesday evening has been identified as Roseann Mary Guzman, 34, of , according to the Coroner's Office.

The accident happened at the Sutterville Road off-ramp at around 6:30 p.m. on September 7.

Guzman and another worker were outside a work setting up cones and a sign to mark night work in the area when a northbound Toyota Sienna minivan swerved across three or four lanes and collided with the truck and the workers.

Authorities said Guzman was pronounced deceased at the scene following the accident.

The other worker, a 54-year-old Sacramento man, was hospitalized with major injuries.

The driver of the minivan, a 30-year-old Washington man, was not injured.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine what led up to the accident.

Sacramento, California (September 7, 2022) – One maintenance worker died, and another was critically hurt when a minivan crashed into their truck and them Wednesday evening in Sacramento, as per a local news source.

The accident was reported at around 6:30 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5 near Sutterville Road.

The California Highway Patrol said the two workers, both men, were setting up cones along the freeway when a minivan swerved and struck their truck and them.

One of the workers died of injuries sustained in the accident. The other worker was hospitalized with critical injuries.

The minivan driver and a passenger were cooperating with investigators. It was not clear if they were injured.

CHP said alcohol or drugs did not appear to be contributing factors. It remained unclear if the minivan was speeding at the time of the collision.

The maintenance workers were Construction Sign Incorporated employees contracted by Caltrans.

The accident forced the closure of three traffic lanes. The closure was expected to last until midnight.
