CHP Officer Among Three Injured in San Mateo Accident on I-280 near Serramonte Boulevard
San Mateo, California (September 10, 2022) – A CHP officer was among three people injured in a crash involving a wrong-way motorist in San Mateo on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident was reported at about 4:07 a.m. on September 9, on I-280 near Serramonte Boulevard.
CHP said a silver Honda was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-280 when officers tried to stop the driver at Serramonte Boulevard.
The driver, who was traveling at a high rate of speed, collided with a CHP vehicle while trying to travel past the patrol officers.
A third vehicle operated by a civilian was also involved in the collision.
One CHP officer, a civilian, and the suspect were injured in the incident.
The suspect was expected to be booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges of DUI and wrong-way driving causing injury.
Further details on the incident were not immediately available.
The CHP is investigating the collision.
