Jacob Villanueva ID'd as Boy Killed in San Jose Accident on Castlemont Avenue
San Jose, California (September 17, 2022) – Jacob Villanueva, 8, has been identified as the boy who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in San Jose on Friday morning, according to the authorities.
The crash happened on Castlemont Avenue at Driftwood Drive near Castlemont Elementary School at about 8:03 a.m.
According to San Jose police, Villanueva and his 44-year-old babysitter were in the crosswalk trying to cross the street when a 2022 black Mercedes Crossover struck them.
The victims were taken to a hospital, where Villanueva died shortly after.
The nanny was hospitalized with a broken leg and was expected to recover.
The driver of the Mercedes, Shiva Moozoun, and her passenger were not injured in the incident.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played any role in the incident.
The crash remained under investigation.

San Jose, California (September 16, 2022) – A boy died and a woman was injured when they were struck by a vehicle in San Jose on Friday morning, according to the authorities.
The incident was reported on Castlemont Avenue near Castlemont Elementary School at around 8:03 a.m.
According to San Jose police, a boy and a woman were in the crosswalk trying to cross the street when they were hit by a vehicle.
The boy was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a few hours later.
The woman was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
