4 People Killed in Crash Involving Semi-Truck on Interstate 17 in Sedona Identified

Sedona, Arizona (September 22, 2022) – The Arizona Department of Public Safety released the identities of the four people killed in a fiery crash involving a semi-truck on Sunday in Sedona.
The victims were Athish Nagarajan, 24, and Dhinesh Nagarajan, 23, both from Tempe, and Gnanappan Nagarajan, 53, and Vijaya Lakshmi-Gopal, 45, who were visiting from India.
It was unclear if they were related.
The four died in a crash involving a tractor-trailer whose brakes failed, causing the driver to run a stop sign and hit their passenger car.
The semi landed on top of the car, and both vehicles erupted in flames.
The truck driver was not injured.

Sedona, Arizona (September 19, 2022) – At least four people were killed in a fiery semi-truck accident near Sedona on Sunday.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the accident happened on Interstate 17 near milepost 298 just south of State Route 179.
The four people were in a car that was traveling northbound when the brakes of a southbound tractor-trailer failed and the two vehicles collided.
The impact of the collision sent both vehicles off the roadway and the truck came to rest on top of the car.
Both vehicles burst into flames after the collision.
DPS troopers arrived at the scene and found four bodies inside the passenger car.
The identities of the deceased victims were not immediately disclosed.
