Sandy Mendoza Identified as Woman Killed in Fresno County Crash on Highway 180 near Shasta Avenue

Fresno County, California (September 19, 2022) – Sandy Mendoza, 20, of Mendota, has been identified as the woman killed in a head-on collision in western Fresno County on Saturday morning, according to the CHP.
The incident happened just before 9:15 p.m. September 17, on Highway 180 near Shasta Avenue.
According to the CHP, Antonio Orosco, 27, was driving a Honda westbound on Highway 180 when he drifted into the eastbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming Acura.
Mendoza was the driver of the Acura and was killed in the accident.
The four passengers in the Acura were taken to local hospitals with major injuries.
Orosco was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment of major injuries.
Authorities said Orosco is expected to face charges including manslaughter and DUI causing fatal injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Kerman, California (September 18, 2022) – A 20-year-old woman from Mendota was killed in a Saturday night head-on collision that left several other people injured in Kerman, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 9:15 p.m., on September 17, on Highway 180, east of Shasta Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Antonia Orosco of Fresno was driving a Honda sedan westbound on Highway 180, while at the same time, the 20-year-old woman was driving an Acura, traveling eastbound on the highway.
Orosco, while driving impaired, reportedly veered to the left and crossed over into the opposing eastbound lane directly in front of Acura. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Sadly, the 20-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
All passengers in the Acura sustained major to moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Orosco also sustained major injuries and was also hospitalized for treatment.
