Police said a white Saturn sedan and a white GMC pick-up truck were involved in the head-on collision on Indio Springs Parkway
Indio, Calif. – Martin Gutierrez, 53, of Indio, was killed in a collision involving a suspected DUI driver in Indio on Tuesday night.
According to the Indio Police Department, the collision happened on Indio Springs Parkway just east of Golf Center Parkway at about 9:45 p.m. December 19.
Police said a white Saturn sedan and a white GMC pick-up truck were involved in the head-on collision.
Gutierrez, who was the driver of the Saturn, had to be extricated from the vehicle along with his passenger.
The two were rushed to a hospital with major injuries, and Gutierrez died at the hospital.
The GMC driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI following the accident.
The roadway was shut down for several hours as authorities examined and cleared the scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
