A man reportedly walked between two parked cars and into the roadway and was hit by a car.
San Diego, Calif. – The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle early this month as 69-year-old Cynthia Lorraine Guiten.
On the evening of Friday, December 1, 2023, Guiten attempted to cross 5th Street in Coronado when she was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet SUV.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and 9-1-1 was called. Responding paramedics transported the decedent to Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego where lifesaving measures were performed to no avail. Guiten was pronounced dead at about 7:51 p.m. the same day.
According to the Medical Examiner's Office, the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries of the head, trunk, and extremities.

San Diego, Calif. – A pedestrian died after being hit by a car on Friday evening near Coronado in San Diego.
The fatal pedestrian accident happened on Fifth Street near the Coronado Holiday Parade route, at around 6:50 p.m., according to the Coronado Police Department.
A man reportedly walked between two parked cars and into the roadway and was hit by a car.
The unidentified pedestrian died at the accident scene.
The driver stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the police.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
