Bakersfield, Calif. – A motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday morning after crashing and being struck by several vehicles on Highway 99 in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 4:36 a.m. December 20, near Wilson Road.
According to the CHP, the incident was first reported as involving a motorcycle and a big rig on southbound Highway 99, south of Wilson Road.
After a preliminary investigation, CHP officers determined that a man in his 20s was riding a Yamaha FZ6R when he crashed and landed in the lane where he was run over by several vehicles. The officers say the big rig did not appear to be involved in the incident and that the rider appeared to have lost control and crashed.
The incident remains under investigation.
