1Killed, 4 Hurt, 2 Seriously, Head-On Collision on Highway 101 in Clatsop County

Clatsop County, Ore.Jean Ormiston,81, of Ocean Park Washington, was killed and four others were transported to a hospital with injuries after a head-on crash in Clatsop County Wednesday morning.

According to the Oregon State Police, the collision was reported at around 11:16 a.m. on December 20 on Highway 101 near milepost 3.5.

The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound 2001 Acura CL driven by Ormiston crossed the centerline for unknown reasons.  A northbound 2011 Ford Van, operated by Scott Sargeant, 63, of Ilwaco, WA, collided head-on with the Acura.

Ormiston, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash was pronounced dead at the crash site. Two juveniles riding in the Acura were hospitalized with severe injuries.

The operator of the Ford Sargeant and his passenger, Eric Sargeant, 62, were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The police said heavy area fog reduced visibility and may have been a contributing factor.

Additional information about the wreck was not provided.

An investigation is underway.
