Ocean Beach, Calif. – One person was seriously injured in a early Thursday morning in Ocean Beach.

The accident was reported around 12:28 a.m. on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard near Nimitz Boulevard, according to the San Diego Police Department.

A 23-year-old man was driving a gray Lexus east on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with a blue southbound Volvo driven by a 44-year-old woman.

The Lexus driver suffered major injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
