Deadly Car Accident on 605 Freeway in Whittier

, Calif. – One person died in a traffic collision that happened Friday night on in Whittier, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident was reported around 11:43 p.m. in the southbound lanes just north of Whittier Boulevard.

Reportedly, a car was traveling at approximately 100 mph when it spun out and hit another vehicle, causing the second car to strike the center divider wall.

A Good Samaritan stopped and started performing CPR on one person who was unresponsive in the HOV lane.

Firefighters arrived a few minutes after the collision and took over from the Good Samaritan.

One person died in the crash, the report said.

The report also said that one of the drivers reportedly fled the scene.

The HOV and the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes remained shut down for investigation.
