Santa Maria, Calif. – Bladimir Chavez, 27, of Santa Maria, was injured in a deadly crash in Santa Maria early Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened on Highway 166 nearly one mile west of Bonita School Road at around 1:38 a.m. December 25
The report said that Chavez was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 166 when he went across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an oncoming 2001 Infinity I30.
Chavez was hospitalized with moderate injuries while the other driver, a 65-year-old Santa Maria man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
CHP said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the incident.
The CHP is handling the investigation.
