A motorcycle officer collided with a car Thursday night and sustained major injuries

Bakersfield, Calif. – A motorcycle officer was seriously hurt after colliding with a vehicle Thursday night on a highway in Bakersfield, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident was reported around 8:21 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 near Highway 166.
CHP said a motorcycle officer collided with a blue Subaru Crosstrek under unclear circumstances.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the officer to Kern Medical with major injuries. It was unclear which department the officer is attached to.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
