Authorities said Eddie Meadows ran in front of a Chevrolet Silverado last week on Sierra Highway

Canyon Country, Calif. – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a pickup truck last week in Canyon Country was identified as 53-year-old Eddie Meadows of Santa Clarita.
The accident happened around 5:40 p.m. Thursday December 21 on Sierra Highway near Sand Canyon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Meadows ran westward across Sierra Highway when a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on the highway in the No. 1 lane at 50 mph.
Meadows was struck by the front right of the pickup truck.
Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene at 6:10 p.m.
Investigators established that the pickup truck driver, 38-year-old Hector Castillo of Newhall, was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was arrested for felony DUI.
Meadows' family opened a GoFundMe account to help raise funds towards his funeral services.

Los Angeles, Calif. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car at an intersection in Santa Clarita on Thursday night.
The fatal crash happened near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Road at around 5:41 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A pedestrian was reportedly walking at the intersection and was struck by a car.
L.A. County Fire officials responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The driver of the involved car stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the authorities.
More details about the accident were not released.
