The pedestrian was in the No. 2 lane when they were hit by the car

Riverside, Calif. – A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon on a freeway in Riverside, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident occurred around 2:40 p.m. on the Escondido (215) Freeway near Center Street.
The pedestrian was struck in the No. 2 lane. It was not clear why the victim was in traffic lanes.
CHP officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
