, Calif. – A 45-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her at an intersection in Simi Valley, according to a police report.

The deadly bicycle accident happened at the intersection of Erringer Road and Fitzgerald Road early Thursday afternoon, December 28.

According to Simi Valley Police Department, preliminary investigations showed the bicyclist was going westbound on Fitzgerald Road in the southern crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Erringer Road.

Authorities said the woman sustained injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

SVPD said an investigation into the crash is underway adding that drugs and/or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
