Father and Daughter Killed in Los Angeles Crash on Normandie Avenue

Los Angeles, Calif. – A father and his daughter died in a collision that left the mother and a toddler severely injured on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident was reported around 11:20 p.m., on Normandie Avenue near 60th Place.

An SUV driver was fleeing the scene of an earlier crash when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection and crashed into a small sedan occupied by a family of four that was traveling south on Normandie Avenue.

The impact of the crash pushed the sedan into a street sign and a fence on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Good Samaritans rushed to help extricate the victims from the smoking sedan.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the crash and pronounced a man dead at the scene.

A 5-year-old daughter succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital.

The mother and a 2-year-old daughter were hospitalized in critical condition.

The SUV driver was also taken to hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the SUV driver is likely to face charges of murder/gross vehicular manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
