CHP Investigating Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 Freeway in Mission Viejo

, Calif. – At least one person is dead fooling a traffic collision that caused one of the vehicles to overturn on Freeway in Mission Viejo Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident happened around 12:22 p.m. on southbound 5 Freeway, just south of Crown Valley Parkway.

Responding crews located a Chevy pickup truck on its roof in the No. 1 lane after colliding with another vehicle.

According to the CHP, at least one person died in the crash.

A SigAlert was issued for one hour and the first three lanes of the freeway were shut down. At about 12:34 the SigAlert was extended for at least two hours as units worked to clear the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
