, Ariz. – A light rail train conductor and two other people were injured after a train collided with a garbage truck at an intersection in Mesa on Wednesday morning.

Mesa police said the collision happened in the area of Main Street and Country Club Drive at around 9:30 a.m.

Authorities say the garbage truck's tire sliced through the front of the light rail and shattered the glass.

The impact of the crash pushed the train off the tracks and three people inside the train were injured, according to Mesa Fire officials.

The three, including a train conductor, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three tow trucks were requested to hoist and remove the garbage truck from the scene.

Authorities blocked Main Street, between Country Club and MacDonald, as the scene was cleared.

The crash remains under investigation.
