Luis Espinoza died at a hospital where he was rushed for treatment after the crash at Century Boulevard and McKinley Avenue

Los Angeles, Calif. – 26-year-old Luis Espinoza of Long Beach was the pedestrian who died after being hit by an LAPD patrol car last month in Watts, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The accident happened just after 5 p.m. on December 8, 2023, at Century Boulevard and McKinley Avenue.
Police said an officer was driving a patrol vehicle approaching a light signal on McKinley when Espinoza attempted to cross the street outside of a marked crosswalk and got hit by the car.
The officer had the cruiser's emergency equipment activated at the time of the crash.
Espinoza was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
LAPD said an Internal Affairs investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The accident was captured by the officer's dashboard camera and surveillance cameras in the area.
