San Diego, Calif. – Update: authorities have identified 65-year-old Canete Rufino of San Digo as a male pedestrian struck and killed in San Diego Tuesday evening.
The wreck was reported at around 6:58 p.m. on January 2 at the intersection of Midway Drive, Sports Arena Boulevard, and West Point Loma Boulevard.

San Diego, Calif. – A pedestrian died after being hit by a car in the Midway District of San Diego on Tuesday evening.
The fatal accident happened around 6:59 p.m. at the intersection of Midway Drive, Sports Arena Boulevard, and West Point Loma Boulevard.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 65-year-old man was walking in the area and was struck by a 2013 Chevy truck driven by a 62-year-old woman.
The man died at the accident scene.
The truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
