The Arizona Department of Public Safety said Nooraly Lalji, 47, was driving a Mercedes Benz westbound on Lincoln Drive when he struck a dog in the roadway.

Paradise Valley, Ariz. – John Wintersteen, 78, has been identified as one of the pedestrians killed in a Paradise Valley collision on Sunday night.
According to the authorities, the crash happened on Lincoln Drive east of 46th Street shortly before 6:40 p.m. on January 7.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said Nooraly Lalji, 47, was driving a Mercedes Benz westbound on Lincoln Drive when he struck a dog in the roadway.
He then stopped and stepped out of the vehicle to check on the injured dog.
Wintersteen lived nearby and also went to check on the dog.
As the two were in the roadway, they were struck by a Lexus RX and at least one of them was ran over by a Nissan Sentra.
Medics transported both pedestrians to a hospital, where they both died.
The dog also died in the incident.
The drivers of the vehicles that hit the pedestrians remained at the scene after the accident.
The crash remained under investigation.
