Driver Killed in Crash on Byron Highway near Holey Road in Contra Costa Identified

Contra Costa, Calif. – Antoinette Thompson-Scott, 29, of Oakland was identified by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office as the person killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Byron Highway in Contra Costa Last year.

Authorities responded to the accident at around 6:29 on December 30 on eastbound Byron Highway, just west of Holey Road.

Reportedly, a white Chevrolet Silverado crossed into oncoming traffic while travelling northbound and crashed into a grey Kia sedan driven by Thompson-Scott in unclear circumstances.

A Hyundai Elantra going south on Byron Highway and a Humvee going north hit debris created by the crash but the people inside were uninjured despite damage to their vehicles, the CHP said.

Thompson-Scott who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed in the crash.

The two occupants of the Chevrolet were injured and taken one by helicopter to a trauma center in Creek. The police said the updates on their conditions were not provided.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the wreck.

The cause of the wreck is being investigated.

Contra Costa County, Calif. – At least one person is dead following a three-vehicle traffic collision on Byron Highway in Contra Costa County Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 6:29 p.m. the California Highway Patrol received reports of a head-on traffic collision on eastbound Byron Highway, just west of Holey Road.

Contra Costa County Fire Department crews responded to the scene and located a white pickup , a black Hummer H2, and a white Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevy was blocking both lanes of the Highway and one of the vehicles was in a ditch with its airbags deployed.

According to the CHP, at least one person was killed in the crash. It was not immediately if anyone else was injured in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
