Rohnert Park, Calif.- A man was hit and killed by a vehicle in Rohnert Park on Sunday morning, according to the police.

The accident took place on the Rohnert Park Expressway shortly after 7 a.m. January 14.

Authorities said the man and his dog were walking across the Rohnert Park Expressway when they were both hit by a vehicle near the railroad crossing.

The man and the dog died at the scene.

The involved driver remained at the scene after the collision.

Authorities said DUI was not suspected in the accident. There was heavy fog at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
