Police say a Toyota traveling westbound on Phelan Road had slowed down to make a left turn onto Nevada Road when for unknown reasons, the white Ecoline Ford Van rear-ended it

Phelan, Calif. – Authorities are investigating a deadly traffic collision that claimed the lives of two young girls, ages 1 and 13 years, Friday afternoon at an intersection in Phelan.
The girls have been identified as 13-year-old Gulliana Puentes and 1-year-old Analia Puentes.
The deadly crash happened at about 1:35 p.m. Friday, January 26 at the intersection of Phelan and Nevada Road.
Reportedly, a Toyota Camry, operated by Alexander Puentes, was heading westbound on Phelan Road and had slowed down to make a left turn onto Nevada Road when a white Ecoline Ford Van slammed into its rear.
Gulliana and Analia who were in the backseat of the Toyota Camry were pronounced dead at the scene. Alexander and a third passenger were injured in the crash. The two were taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
The driver of the van was not injured.
According to a GoFundMe page launched by the family of the two young girls, Alexander had just picked up Gullian (her sister) and her 12-year-old cousin from school at Riverside Preparatory, with her Analia (Alexder's niece) accompanying them in the car. After sharing a meal out together, they left for home when the deadly incident happened.
The crash remains under investigation.

Reportedly, a westbound Toyota on Phelan Road had slowed down to make a left turn onto Nevada Road, when for unknown reasons, the white Ecoline Ford Van rear-ended it.
One person was killed in the wreck.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately released.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the wreck.
