Corona, Calif. – Two people were injured following a fiery chain-reaction crash on 15 Freeway in Corona Friday evening, according to a report by the Corona Fire Department.
The crash happened at about 6:18 p.m. on January 26 on the northbound Interstate 15 Freeway at Magnolia Avenue.
As per the firefighters, the incident started when a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter medical van carrying oxygen tanks struck the rear of a Subaru. The impact caused the Subaru to rear-end a semi-tractor trailer. The oxygen tanks exploded triggering a fire that engulfed the van and the Subaru. The fire also spread to a nearby vegetation.
The Corona Fire Department officials say two people were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
