Dog Walker Critically Hurt in Pedestrian Crash on SE Monroe Avenue near Wood Avenue

Portland, Ore. – 67-year-old female dog-walker was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle on Northeast Monroe Avenue in Milwaukie Sunday morning.

Authorities said the collision was reported on Northeast Monroe Avenue near Wood Avenue.

Reportedly, the woman was walking her dog on SE Monroe Avenue near Wood Avenue when she was hit by the right front of the pickup operated by Kristin D. Russell, 57, of Milwaukie.

The woman was rushed to a hospital with critical internal injuries.

The dog, which ran off after the crash, was found later at the woman's nearby home.

Russell was also booked on assault and vehicular assault charges.

The name of the injured victim was not immediately released.

No more information about the wreck was provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
