Authorities say the 89-year-old man drove a Toyota directly into the path of the GMC Envoy and the two vehicles collided.

Elderly Driver Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash at Black Oak Road and Tuolumne Road

, Calif. – An 89-year-old driver was killed and a 67-year-old woman was injured following a two-vehicle traffic collision at an intersection in Sonora Friday afternoon, according to a police report.

The crash happened at about 4:10 p.m. on January 26 at the Black Oak Road and Tuolumne Road intersection.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the elderly man was driving a 1992 Toyota pickup southbound on Black Oak Road and was stopped at a stop sign. At the same time, 67-year-old Janice Greengo of Jamestown was driving a 2006 GMC Envoy westbound on Tuolumne Road at approximately 45 mph.

Authorities say the Toyota drove directly into the path of the GMC and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Toyota was killed in the crash. His name was withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

Janice Greengo sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
