Santa Cruz County, Calif. – Two men ages 21 and 34 were seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 129 in Santa Cruz County Monday morning.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the wreck at around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 129 near Rogge Lane.

Responding crews located two vehicles at the crash site. The events leading up to the wreck were not immediately established.

Two men were hospitalized with severe injuries but they were stable condition.

Four dogs in one of the vehicles survived and were taken to county animal shelter.

The highway was closed between and in Benito County and reopened about 9:30 a.m.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
