San Bernardino, Calif. – Authorities have arrested a driver who fled the scene of a car crash that left two people dead last November in Redlands.
The double-fatal crash happened on Alabama Street at San Bernardino Avenue at around 6:30 a.m. on November 25, according to the California Highway Patrol.
26-year-old Roberto Alvarez Rodriguez was driving a black Kia east on San Bernardino Avenue when it collided with a semi-truck traveling north on Alabama Street.
Authorities say all three passengers in the Kia were taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Sadly, two of the victims succumbed to their injuries. One of the deceased persons was identified as Valerie D. Ibarra, 38, of Montebello.
Rodriguez fled the scene but was later located in Fontana on January 26. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
